Peter Andre Visits the Kung Fu School Crawley with his son Junior

Mike and Peter Andre talk history of Wing Chun

After expressing an interest in starting his martial arts training again, Lindsey from the Kung Fu schools contacted Peter's agent to invite him along to our school based in Crawley - only 30 minutes drive from his home in Brighton.

Peter had trained and taught Wing Chun Kung Fu (a Chinese martial art made famous by the late Bruce Lee) over 15 years ago.

Wing Chun training focuses on short range strikes and low kicks which make it a fantastic system for self-defence training - something Peter was obviously keen for his son Junior to start aswell.  More than just punching and kicking though - Peter appreciates that martial arts are some of the best ways to get fitter and look great.  From lower paced aerobic technique work to faster, intense pad and scenario training - there is little to rival martial arts when it come to looking and feeling great.

Aside from the physical aspects of training - any keen martial artist will always know that no matter what life throws at you - good times and bad - you've always got your training as an anchor and keep you feeling good and motivated.  Training can be the stress relief of hitting a pad or bag; mixing it up with training partners or getting a good sweat on.  Something to work the mind, the body and leave  your problem or work behind.

So after making the decision to start training again - it was time for Peter and Mike to visit the Kung Fu School.

Junior earns his white belt

Peter and brother Mike took Junior to his very first Kung Fu lesson here in Crawley back in August. Understandably, Peter thinks its important for Junior to learn martial arts for discpline and to protect himself – and his sister!  An important point many viewers may have missed was Peter explaining to the camera that he wants Junior to use his head, think for himself and never have to fight.

Sifu Paul Hawkes said "Peter came along with his brother Mike and film crews for the first visit and had a lesson. They were here for a couple of hours and filmed for about an hour and a half. We sat upstairs and had a chat off camera. They are both remarkably nice. Peter is such an easy-going guy and a very genuine person."

During Junior's lesson he learned some of the basics of Wing Chun Kung Fu, the style we teach here on Spindle Way.  Learning footwork, hand positioning, punching and part of the Siu Nim Tau form.  At the end of every lesson we always stress the importance of only using your martial arts training for self-defence and never to be aggressive, offensive or abusive in any way, shape or form.
