Happy Chinese New Year – the Year of the Rabbit!

Chinese Year of the Rabbit

The Chinese New Year is underway and it’s the Year of the Rabbit or Hare.  The New Year officially begins on February 3rd 2011 with celebrations running for 15 days.

There are 12 characters in the Chinese Zodiac in the order – Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Dog and Pig.

People born in the year of the Rabbit are seen to be gracious, a good friend, kind, sensitive, soft-spoken, amiable, elegant, reserved, cautious, artistic, thorough, tender, self-assured, shy, astute, compassionate, lucky, and flexible.

On the downside they can be moody, detached, superficial, self-indulgent, opportunistic or stubborn!

It’s common to think that because there’re 12 animals – there are 12 different characters according to Chinese astrology – there are in fact 8,640 combinations you might fall into.

This is because there are 5 elements, 12 zodiac signs, 12 months of the year and 12 times of the day you may be born between!
